Attached to this building on the southeast corner of Adelaide Street East and Sherbourne Street is a 2011 Heritage Toronto plaque which has this to say:

These two attached houses are rare examples of Georgian-style residences that used to be common in Toronto. They were built for Paul Bishop, a blacksmith and landlord whose shop stood across the street.
